Brief history:
The boat was
manufactured in Florida in 1985. The original husband-and-wife owners
planned a round-the-world cruise but for some unknown reason abandoned
this plan when they reached Cyprus and sold the boat here. It was
bought by an elderly British gentleman who had apparently never sailed
before. After a couple of years or so of depending on friends to take
him sailing he got fed up, sold the boat and bought a small motorboat
instead. It was then bought by a local Cypriot, the rather wealthy
proprietor of an old-established firm of opticians. (He replaced the
original 30 hp engine with the present 43 hp Yanmar. He and his son
also raced the boat in local races in Limassol, and were quite
successful even though the boat is designed as a cruising boat.) In
Spring 1998 the boat passed into the hands of the present owner who is
selling it now because unfortunately age and arthritis are catching up
with him. Since its arrival in Cyprus it has been sailed only in
Cyprus waters except, as far as we have been told, for one trip to
Kastellorizon, the nearest Greek island.
